The Panaewa Alii lost to the Southside Cyclones (N.Y.) 33-22 in a consolation game Tuesday at the Pop Warner Super Bowl in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

The Hawaii champions in the Midget Division finished 0-2 in the tournament.

AJA baseball season

opens play Sunday

The Hawaii AJA Memorial Baseball League will open its 80th season on Sunday at Wong Stadium.

The opener features the Keaukaha Legends vs. the Corsairs, with opening ceremonies to start at 10 a.m. The Waiakea Pirates face the defending champion Keaukaha Warriors in the second game.

Presentations will be made to honor last seasons league champion, Keaukaha Warriors, RBI champion, Kiley Uyeda, batting champion, Bryce Onaga, and MVP, Cortney Arruda.

Games will be played every Sunday, with the winners advancing to the state tournament on Kauai.

Jungle Bell Run is

Sunday at PKP

The Big Island Road Runners will be holding it’s second annual Jingle Bell Run at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The free run starts and ends from the rear of Prince Kuhio Plaza near the Bus Stop in the back of the Macy’s Home Store. Runners and walkers can choose to go around the plaza from one to three times, and there will be no official timing.

Participants are encouraged to wear holiday garb and to bring canned food items or an unwrapped gift for a child. The food and gifts will be given to the Salvation Army for its holiday feeding program.

Immediately after the run, BIRR will hold a short annual meeting and elect directors for 2014. Anyone interested in serving as a director is encouraged to be nominated at the meeting.

HGEA Tennis fun day

Sunday at Kanaka‘ole

The Hawaii Government Employees Association will hold a tennis fun day from noon-4 p.m. Sunday at the Edith Kanaka’ole Multipurpose Stadium.

Mmembers and guests are invited to participate in social tennis doubles. Tennis balls and refreshments will be provided.

Kickball tournament

is Dec. 21 in Kona

An adult kickball tournament will be held Dec. 21 at the Old Kona Airport Park.

Teams are required to donate a new or unwrapped toys, which will be donated to area families in need this holiday season.

The goal of event organizers Mahea Akau and Che Pilago is “to bring our community together in health and in fun with a sport that all skill levels can participate in and in the process bring smiles and happiness to our keiki this holiday season.”
